The mission of Epic Races is to manage safe and fun multisport and endurance events for beginner through elite athletes where each participant feels like a champion. Founded in 2008, Epic Races currently hosts approximately 20 road races, triathlons, clinics, and other sports events and provides athletes of all ages and abilities opportunities to learn, develop, and challenge themselves and cross the finish line feeling like a champion.
From its inception, Epic has focused on being more than just your typical race-management company. Whether hosting one of Michigan’s first women-only triathlons (Tri Goddess Tri), organizing races specifically for area youth (Goldfish Kids Tri) or offering weekend clinics specifically tailored to the needs of busy professionals, Epic Races has continually set the bar high, offering year-round activities for the multi-sport athlete.
Our races are designed to be appealing to everyone, from very first timers to elite athletes. We don’t host just another triathlon; our races all have a unique and fun spirit that you will feel throughout the event.
Focusing on the unspoiled beauty of Southeastern Michigan, Epic Races takes participants through some of the region’s most pristine natural habitats, utilizing the tranquil inland lakes, picturesque country roads, and quiet forest paths of the Pinckney and Waterloo State Recreation Areas to provide a stunning yet challenging setting for our multi-sport events.
Designing our courses for athletes of all experience levels, we are confident that, no matter what your fitness level may be, you will find our open-water swims, scenic bike courses, and winding running routes an enjoyable yet challenging break from the monotony of urban triathlons. Our goal is to provide race opportunities for every level of competitor, whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a beginning participant. With the ability to choose from a variety of race distances and types, including Sprint Triathlon, Mini-Sprint Triathlon, Duathlon, Aquabike, one mile, 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon, you can select the distance and category best suited to your level of conditioning and personal preference. No matter what your current ability, we make sure everyone has the chance to have an Epic experience!
One of the qualities that separate Epic Races from the typical event company is that, as passionate triathletes and fitness enthusiasts ourselves, we know that training is a year-round endeavor. The hard work you put in during the offseason to ensure you’re prepared for racing is something to which we certainly can relate. Like you, we also understand how difficult it can be to balance training with your personal and professional life. We do our best to provide opportunities that help you maximize your time and efficiency when training.
In order to provide year-round support for experienced and beginning athletes, Epic Races offers a variety of coaching clinics for every level of athlete: swimming clinics hosted by Olympians Sheila Taormina and Chris Thompson, cycling clinics sponsored by Performance Bicycle, or general training clinics led by Epic sponsor Ann Arbor Running Company. Additionally, we try and support your efforts by serving as a knowledgeable resource for all your multi-sport inquiries. Through our website and our social media presence, we try and keep you up to date with the very latest information on nutrition, equipment, training, and much, much more. Sign up to be added to our newsletter mailing list and stay up to date with the very latest Epic developments.
No matter what your needs or concerns may be, if you don’t know where to start or if you can’t find an answer to a question, we want to hear from you. Our goal is to encourage and support every person who wants to tri a triathlon or run a 5K (or longer!) and to help you finish every race feeling great. Epic Races does not just put on a race; we are there for you from your training to the finish line and beyond.
Epic Races’ focus has always been about people. We care about our community, about the environment, and about each and every individual who takes part in our races. We work hard to bring you challenging races that are fun and which are based on your desires and needs. While we do our absolute best to host nothing but top-notch events, as racers ourselves we also know that sometimes events don’t always go as planned and that, occasionally, one leaves with the wrong size race shirt and a less-than-ideal experience. Needless to say, we want these experiences to be few and far between, and we will do our best to make sure you have nothing less than an Epic good time!
As part of our commitment to providing you the very best in multi-sport racing, we want to make sure you are aware of and understand all of our written policies. While we want you to check these out in greater detail (click here to see our Policies page) we also know that not everyone will not take the time to do so. We want to emphasize that by signing up for an Epic event, you understand and agree with all of our race policies and that under no circumstances will Epic Races be responsible for any participant’s failure to read these policies.
Having gotten that out of the way, we want to emphasize that our race policies are based on the recommended “best practices” of USA Triathlon and that we put an incredible amount of thought and effort into all decisions we make. All of our policies and decisions are focused on ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
Regardless of your race goals and benchmarks, age and condition, experience and aptitude, we believe that you will enjoy the challenges and camaraderie of Epic’s races and we excitedly look forward toward helping you have a truly fun, safe, and Epic experience!
