The Suburban Chevrolet Ann Arbor Goddess 5K and Mile Fun Run
to benefit the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance

A portion of this event’s proceeds will go to benefit our featured charity, the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance.

Celebrate a day for all women — Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018 — by joining your mothers, sisters, daughters, your entire sisterhood in the Suburban Chevrolet Arbor Goddess 5K and showing Ann Arbor how truly divine you are. You can even race with your daughter or mother on our USATF-certified 5K course in the Mother-Daughter category or add a grandmother or granddaughter for our Three Generations of Women category of fabulous females (participants must compete in the 5K for these divisions)! Want a shorter distance in which to showcase your athletic abilities? We have an untimed, non-competitive one-mile fun run option as well. Create a social team of your family members, co-workers, neighbors, or friends and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow females as you wind your way through the city’s scenic downtown district to the finish line. Whatever your age or ability may be, you know you can do this.

While this is a day to celebrate goddesses of all generations,  we also welcome gods (husbands, brothers, fathers, sons, grandfathers, and more), as long as they support our goddesses and this very vital cause (awards are just for the ladies, guys!).

The Suburban Chevrolet Ann Arbor Goddess 5K and Mile Fun Run Entry Fees

Q. I signed up for the 5K but I think the mile is more my distance. Can I transfer to the mile?
A. You can switch from the 5K to the mile — or from the mile to the 5K — by logging in to your Run Sign Up account, clicking the My Registered Races button, clicking Manage Registration by Ann Arbor Goddess, then clicking the Transfer Event button and following the onscreen instructions. If you are transferring to the 5K from the mile, you will be charged for the difference in price between the events. You can also switch in person at Packet Pick-Up.

Q. I signed up... I think. Can you confirm whether I registered for the race?
A. You can confirm your registration by clicking on Find a Participant on the Suburban Chevrolet Ann Arbor Goddess registration page at https://runsignup.com/Race/FindARunner/?raceId=19314. Simply input your name and search!

Q. Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
A. Yes! Log into your Run Sign Up account, click the My Registered Races button, click Manage Registration by Ann Arbor Goddess, then click Transfer to Another Runner and follow the onscreen instructions. There is a $15 charge to transfer your registration to another event, as well as a Run Sign Up processing fee. NOTE: the deadline to transfer your registration to another person is Sunday, April 29.

Q. I can no longer attend. How do I get a refund?
A. By registering for an Epic Races event, you have purchased a ticket to participate in one of the most exhilarating and enjoyable races in Southeast Michigan. As with a ticket to any sports or entertainment event, there are no refunds if you are unable to attend. However, if you chose to purchase the optional TicketGuardian race insurance, you can file a claim to have your entry fees reimbursed. Visit http://claims.ticketguardian.net.

Q. I can no longer attend. Can I get my race shirt and medal and bib sent to me?
A. We are happy to send you your race shirt and bib; please send a self-addressed, large shipping envelope with $5 affixed postage and a note with your name, race, and event distance to us at Epic Races, 600 S. Wagner Road, Ann Arbor, MI, 48103. However, our finisher's medals are reserved for those who complete the race.

Q. I signed up to run a virtual race the same day as the Ann Arbor Goddess 5K. Do I need to register and pay for both?
A. Yes! If you plan on participating in the Ann Arbor Goddess, you must register and pay in order to be allowed on the race course, regardless of whether or not you are also participating in a virtual event.

Q. Where do I park on race morning?
A. Parking will be available at all downtown Ann Arbor parking structures and lots as well as along side streets. Parking on Sunday in downtown Ann Arbor is free!

Q. What happens if it's raining on race day?
A. The Ann Arbor Goddess will be held, rain, snow, or shine. Please be sure to dress accordingly for the weather.

Q. How many aid stations will there be?
A. There will be one aid station on the 5K course.

Q. Are jogging strollers allowed?
A. Yes! However, participants with jogging strollers may not race or run; they may only jog. Participants with strollers must remain courteous and respectful of all other participants; they must stay to the right of the course and may not weave in and out of the other participants. Children in jogging strollers must remain securely fastened in the stroller while on the course.

Q. Are dogs allowed?
A. No, dogs are not allowed on any of the event course due to safety, security, and insurance reasons.

Q. Are headphones/ear buds allowed?
A. Yes, but we strongly encourage that you consider participating without portable music. This way, you will be able to hear the course marshals, as well as the spectators cheering for you. You will also be able to hear your fellow runners calling out that they are passing you.

Q. When will results be posted and where?
A. You'll find the results by clicking on the blue Results button at the top of this page. Results will be posted within 12 hours after the race ends.

Q. Can someone else pick up my race packet for me?
A. Yes! You can have someone pick up your packet for you if you are unable to make it to packet pick-up.

Q. My race shirt doesn't fit. Can I exchange it?
A. Yes! However, exchanges can only be done after the race and there is no guarantee of size.

Q. I left before results were posted and I won an award! How do I get it?
A. Congratulations! Awards are available for pick up at American Home Fitness (same location as packet pick up) or you can send us a sase - instructions under "Policies > Mailing Race Items" at the top of this page.

Q. My daughter and I want to participate in the Mother/Daughter division. How do we register?
A. During the registration process, you will be asked if you wish to create a team. Click Create/Join a team and use the pull-down menu to select the Mother/Daughter (or 3 Generations) division. Create your team, then add your team mates. Please note that you both must run the 5K.

Q. We already registered. Is it too late to join the Mother/Daughter division?
A. You can register for the Mother/Daughter (or 3 Generations) division until online registration closes at 4 PM the Thursday before the race. If you have already registered, simply log on to your Run Sign Up account, click My Registered Races, click Manage Registration under Ann Arbor Goddess, then click the blue Group/Team button and create a team under Mother/Daughter. You can then add your teammates.

Q. I am on a Mother/Daughter team, but I would also like to be on a Three Generations team. How do I do this?
A. Sorry! You can only play on one team for this race!

To all the goddesses out there – way to go to help a most worthy cause.

  2. Katherine February 14, 2015 at 9:41 AM #

I am so excited to run this with my fellow goddesses (and gods too!). After losing my cousin at the young age of 32 to Ovarian Cancer our family is going to run this together, exactly one year after her diagnosis. What I can’t seem to find out is whether or not proceeds go to an Ovarian Cancer research/organization or if we are meant to raise our own crowdsource and donate to the cause? Would someone please point me in the right direction?

    Thank you!

    • Pam February 19, 2015 at 1:11 PM #

      Hi, Katherine!
First, I am so sorry hearing that you lost your cousin @ such a young age! I, too, lost my Mom and grandma to this wretched disease 🙁 I founded Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance with my mom in 2010. We officially got our 501(c)3 in June of 2011. After 4 years, we have done many great things to raise awareness for ovarian cancer throughout our state! Our mission is multi-faceted, one of which is research driven. This year we are giving $25,000 to ovarian cancer research being conducted here in Michigan. We would love to have your help in raising funds with our mission. Please visit this link: https://mioca.myetap.org/fundraiser/AnnArbor5K/
I look forward to meeting you on 5/10/15!

  3. Julie February 24, 2015 at 7:11 PM #

I’m new to the 5K world. I don’t want to run it, but I’d like to walk 5K. Do walkers have to do the one mile? Can we walk the 5K route?

    • ana February 25, 2015 at 1:43 PM #

Welcome to the world of 5Ks! And yes, you can absolutely walk the Ann Arbor Goddess 5K distance. It’s your event; go with whatever makes you comfortable! 🙂

  4. Candi March 3, 2015 at 7:50 AM #

Hello, I have a group or ladies that would like to do the walk. Is it possible for me to register everyone at one time?

    • ana March 3, 2015 at 8:07 AM #

Hi Candi! Glad to hear that your group is looking to participate in our event! Our registration site will ask if you’d like to add another participant prior to taking you to check out, so you’ll be able to add your group members at that point. You can only add them individually, but you’ll only have to go through the final registration process once.

  5. Jennifer March 8, 2015 at 7:16 PM #

Are strollers allowed on the course for either 5k or the 1 mile?

    • Eva March 8, 2015 at 7:19 PM #

Yes for both! Please start at the back and plan on jogging or walking as opposed to running.

      • Jennifer March 9, 2015 at 9:36 AM #

Thank you for the quick response!

  6. Bree March 9, 2015 at 7:57 PM #

Is the registration fee for children the same as the adult race? My issue here is that my 6 year old would like to try to run the 5k with me, however I have a feeling she may not actually do it. Could she run next to me, just to do it without registering?

    • ana March 10, 2015 at 9:18 AM #

We totally understand how you are concerned about your 6 year old’s ability to run the entire 5K! However, since we do have a 5- to 6-year-old division, she would need to register just like the other 6 year olds participating in the event. Perhaps do the event together as a mother-daughter walk instead of a run?

      • Briannon March 10, 2015 at 10:28 AM #

Thanks! That makes sense, I wasn’t sure if the divisions went that young 🙂

      • Bree March 10, 2015 at 10:35 AM #

One other thing, do my daughter and I have to register at the same time to run/walk in the Mother/Daughter division or can I register for myself and then when I know my daughter REALLY wants to do it, register her?

        • ana March 10, 2015 at 10:54 AM #

You can sign your daughter up at any time up until registration closes; when you register her, mark her as signing up for the Mother/Daughter event. You can then modify your registration to note that you are also doing the Mother/Daughter event. Both of you do need to be registered to enter the Mother/Daughter division, but you can indicate that at any time up to the day registration closes, too. 🙂

  7. Marianne March 11, 2015 at 11:46 PM #

Hi! I’m trying to see what the travel time would be from my home, what is a good address to plug into my GPS? Also- how is the parking in the area? Are there lots nearby? I know at times, Ann Arbor can be tricky as far as parking goes. 🙂 thank you!

    • ana March 12, 2015 at 11:16 AM #

The race start will be near Maynard, so use the Maynard Parking Structure as an address… and you can also use that location as your parking area! There are several other parking garages within a few blocks’ walk from there if this lot is already full. The address is 324 Maynard St. Ann Arbor, MI 48104.

  8. Sherry March 15, 2015 at 9:40 PM #

Even if you only do the 1 mile, you get the finishers medal, shirt and other goodies?

    • ana March 16, 2015 at 2:06 PM #

Absolutely! All participants receive a finisher’s medal, T-shirt, and all the other goodies regardless of whether they do the mile or 5K distance. 🙂

  9. Susan March 17, 2015 at 5:13 PM #

To do the mother/daughter race, should I enter us as “Team” registration or “5K”? Thanks! 🙂

    • ana March 17, 2015 at 5:28 PM #

Hi Susan! You would both register individually for the 5K, and then, towards the end of the registration process, select input “mother/daughter division” when you are asked if you are on a team. You’ll find this question right near the one asking for your T-shirt size. 🙂

  10. Linda April 6, 2015 at 8:00 AM #

I am putting a team together too, we lost our daughter to ovarian cancer in 2004. She was treated at U of M, so we have a special connection. I registered as TEAM FLIP FLOP, however, it doesn’t appear in the drop down menu at the Select a team sight, shall I try to re-register the team?

    • ana April 7, 2015 at 7:59 PM #

Connie, please check your email for detailed steps on how to set up your team. Let me know if you encounter any problems!

  11. Marianne April 11, 2015 at 9:21 PM #

Do the shirts fit like those at the Detroit Women’s Belle Isle 1/2 marathon?

  12. Ana April 12, 2015 at 1:16 AM #

Yes, we offer the same Women’s Fitted and Unisex sizing as we had at the Detroit Women’s Half. As we did then, we recommend ordering two sizes up if you would like the fitted shirt.

  13. Lindsay April 13, 2015 at 1:30 PM #

Are dogs allowed at this event??

    • ana April 13, 2015 at 2:54 PM #

We’re sorry, but due to safety, health, and insurance reasons dogs are not permitted on the courses at the Ann Arbor Goddess 5K and Mile Run/Walk.

  14. Kirby April 16, 2015 at 7:36 PM #

Is there a specific way to sign up for the mother daughter division?

    • Eva April 16, 2015 at 7:38 PM #

When you sign up for the race, you will be asked the question: “Would you like to be in the mother/daughter division?” Check yes.
Let me know if I can help with anything else!

      • Kirby April 21, 2015 at 12:02 PM #

Okay so then on race day do we tell you who our mother is? how does my mother’s time link up with mine?

        • Eva April 23, 2015 at 5:06 PM #

You will be receiving more information about this about a week prior to the event. Thanks for asking!

        • Ana April 23, 2015 at 5:16 PM #

Not a problem! Just log into your account on Run Sign Up, our new registration system. Once you are logged on, you can manage your account for this race. One of the questions we ask towards the end of the registration process is for you to list your mother or daughter. Just add the name and save changes, and you will be linked for this division!

  15. Carolyn April 20, 2015 at 1:22 PM #

What about parking? What are our options, and rates?

    • ana April 20, 2015 at 1:38 PM #

Parking throughout Ann Arbor, including the Republic Parking structures, is free on Sundays. You’ll find more details and other important race-day information in our Athlete’s Guide to Race Day. Just click the big blue Athlete’s Guide link on the Ann Arbor Goddess event page. Thanks!

  16. Shelly April 23, 2015 at 3:43 PM #

I don’t have a daughter running with me, but my son will be. Why is there not a mother/son category?

    • Eva April 23, 2015 at 5:16 PM #

Thanks for your question! The Ann Arbor Goddess Run to benefit the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance is a women’s event to celebrate women and women’s health issues, particularly promoting saving women’s lives through the early detection of ovarian cancer and improved treatment outcomes. We invite all of the guys in our lives to join us in this event by supporting us along the course as running buddies and/or volunteers. Award categories in the event are only for the ladies which is why we only have a mother/daughter award category. We do have open teams and you and your son may set up or join a team. I think it’s fantastic that he will be running with you – what a perfect way to celebrate Mother’s Day!

  17. Stacy April 30, 2015 at 2:55 PM #

the only race that’s available to me now is the “one mile without bling” what does that mean without bling?

    • Eva April 30, 2015 at 10:34 PM #

The description right beside the category says: Our event’s late-registration division, opened due to popular demand (our regular divisions were capped at 1,000). Goddess Without Bling runners and walkers will enjoy the same course through downtown Ann Arbor and all of the post-race food and festivities as those participants who registered earlier. However, their differently colored race bib denotes that Goddess Without Bling ladies do not receive medals at the finish line; they will need to check in at the conclusion of the race to see if there are any medals left over. Goddess Without Bling participants DO receive race T-shirts the morning of the race, but sizes are first come, first served.

  18. Marcy May 4, 2015 at 2:03 PM #

Hello, just wondering if men are allowed to run this? Or is it not encouraged?

    • Eva May 4, 2015 at 2:35 PM #

      Hi Marcy,
This is a “women’s event” where men ARE welcome! We have a few hundred men signed up so your man will not be alone! Please do note, however, that as a women’s event, only women are eligible for awards.

  19. Jen May 6, 2015 at 9:45 AM #

Your website says that the registration is full. Does that mean that race day registration is not available anymore?

    • ana May 6, 2015 at 9:52 AM #

Yes, that is correct for any Epic Races event that sells out prior to race day. Ann Arbor Goddess is full!

I am doing the 5K without bling, do I need to go to the package pick up? Or do I just come the day of the race a get my bib and t-shirt?

    • ana May 7, 2015 at 10:22 PM #

Hi Toni! You can go to any of the three packet pick-ups — Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. You will receive the same items at each: your bib number, safety pins, and goodie bag. Goddesses Without Bling can pick their shirts up at any of the pick-ups, but your shirt pick-up area is separate from the packet pick-up area; you’ll be shown where to go get your shirt. One HUGE advantage about the Athleta packet pick ups is that you will be entered in a raffle to win Athleta outfits and gift cards. Hope that this explanation helps!

Is there registration the day of the event? Or is it too late to register.

    • ana May 9, 2015 at 1:18 PM #

Sorry, there is no race-day registration for any event once it has sold out.

I broke my foot this morning. I won’t be able to run. Is there x anything I can do?

    • ana May 9, 2015 at 9:41 PM #

We are so sorry to hear of your injury! If you have a friend or relative who can run in your place, have them come to the Solutions table tomorrow morning before the race and we will get them set up!

My daughter and I had so much fun! Thank you for a great race. Both my phone and Garmin watch measured 2.87 miles… Was it really 3.1 and my gps devices measured wrong? Please don’t take this as a complaint… Just a question!

    • ana May 12, 2015 at 7:06 AM #

Hi Sue! Glad to hear that you and your daughter enjoyed our first-ever Goddess. The course was measured at 3.1, as you can see from the course map (http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/569974624). However, we had a much larger race than we anticipated and weren’t able to fit everybody onto Liberty without funneling onto State Street, which we weren’t allowed to do. We did our best to move the starting line up and the finish line back working within our parameters, but yes, it did come up slightly short. We’ve heard various distances from participants, ranging from 2.9 to 3.03. As a first-year race, we had not planned to certify the course’s distance. Now that we see there is interest for Ann Arbor Hosdess, we’re all in.

The Goddess run was a great event (even with the rain). Where can we view race photos?

    • Eva May 11, 2015 at 9:55 PM #

Thanks, Michelle! Photos should all be tagged and posted by tomorrow afternoon!

Are my husband and cousins that are men allowed to run this race with us ladies?
Do the guys still receive a medal and shirt at the end of the race?

    • ana April 18, 2016 at 5:43 PM #

Hi Amanda! While the Ann Arbor Goddess is part of our all-women Goddess Racing Series, men are indeed allowed to take part. Many of our ovarian-cancer survivors have male loved ones walking with them to show their support. Men who choose to take part must show their support for the women who are racing, especially our cancer survivors. Men will receive a race shirt at packet pick-up, but they are ineligible for any awards although they do receive a finisher’s medal.

      • Nick April 19, 2016 at 8:19 AM #

What exactly do you mean by “must show their support for the women who are racing”?

        • ana April 19, 2016 at 8:58 AM #

As the Ann Arbor Goddess is primarily an all-women event, with special focus on (and with a large contingent of) ovarian-cancer survivors, the men who participate in this event are mostly the husbands, brothers, sons, and close friends of our cancer survivors. They are ineligible for awards and, rather than racing/competing, they accompany their remarkable ladies through the entirety of the course, pausing when they stop to rest, making sure they are okay to continue, and supporting them should they need physical assistance to complete the course and cross the finish line, as well as cheering on other participants.

        • Eva April 19, 2016 at 9:04 AM #

Since men are not eligible for age group awards, we just ask that they are there in the spirit of the event and the cause. 🙂

Beautiful day for a race! Just wondering if something happened to your original medals? The ones we received were rather disappointing.

    • ana May 9, 2016 at 8:39 AM #

Julie, please check your spam/junk/trash folders for an email sent out Friday evening from our medal company, Runners High Medallions/Sports Awards. This was emailed to all participants who were registered by the time online registration closed on Friday. The email explained that there had been an internal error at the medal company and that they would be unable to fulfill our medal order in time for the race on Sunday. They overnighted us medals in order to be able to give something out at the finish line; The medals that we custom ordered will be sent to Epic once they are done; in the end, our participants will have two medals to commemorate their run!

Thanks for the update. How very nice of them to find a speedy solution!

I’m a 33 year old man who lost my mother and Aunt to Ovarian Cancer in the same year. I want to run and raise money for my mom, like I did in Rochester Hills last September, but this seems to be for women only. Are my father, brother in law and I allowed to run with our female family members or can we only volunteer?

    • ana March 14, 2017 at 2:38 AM #

Hi Matthew! Men are indeed welcome, especially those who participate in the spirit of the event. Here’s the notation, straight from the Suburban Chevrolet Ann Arbor Goddess page:

While this is a day to celebrate goddesses of all generations, we also welcome gods (husbands, brothers, fathers, sons, grandfathers, and more), as long as they support our goddesses and this very vital cause (awards are just for the ladies, guys!).

If kids 8 and under do the Kids Dash can they then join their parents in the one mile walk?

    • Eva April 25, 2018 at 5:44 PM #

      Yes, they can!

Is there a good hashtag to use when posting pictures on social media for this event?
