Start 2017 on the right foot — or left — with our HeartMISnow Virtual 5K, the perfect way to kick off your resolution for a healthy and fit new year! Anyone of any age and any ability can participate: you only need your own two feet and an outdoor location!
Watch for HeartMIBike, coming soon!
Follow these steps to become a 2017 HeartMISnower:
Every HeartMISnow participant will receive a beautiful finisher’s medal created especially for this event, along with a HeartMISnow T-shirt. All medals and shirts will be mailed out via Priority Mail in early March. Wear your HeartMISnow shirt all year round to show your support for Michigan’s state parks and your commitment to fitness!
Please note: Epic Races does not ship swag to Canada or internationally. If you are a resident of Canada or another country and wish to participate in an Epic Races virtual event, please provide us with a U.S. shipping address.
Completing the HeartMISnow Virtual 5K has definite health benefits, whether you’re taking your first step in a year of racing events or your first step towards fitness ever. Make your 5K more than just a one-time event, and encourage your friends and family to join you as you HeartMISnow! Your participation in the 2017 HeartMISnow Virtual 5K also has benefits beyond these: a portion of the proceeds from this event go to the Michigan DNR to help fund reforestration efforts and fitness programs in state parks. The HeartMISnow Virtual 5K is part of the Pure Michigan FITness Series of events and is endorsed by the Michigan Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health, and Sports.
Epic Races recognizes the compassion, support, and friendship that exists between a runner and their I Run 4 buddy. To help your buddy feel more special, we’ve created a race add-on so that your buddy can receive his or her own HeartMISnow Virtual 5K medal. We applaud those runners who dedicate their miles to buddies with special needs whose conditions span the spectrum from total physical disability to developmental delays to autism spectrum disorders and more. Look for the IR4 add-on when you register, or log into Run Sign Up to manage your registration and add the IR4 add-on. For more information on the I Run 4 program or to be matched with a buddy of your own, visit the I Run 4 web site. Please note that IR4 buddy medals may only be purchased by athletes officially matched with an IR4 buddy. The funds from orders received from unaffiliated participants will be donated to the IR4 Foundation.
A State of Michigan Park permit is required to enter all DNR-managed properties. The Recreation Passport is your $11 ticket to Michigan’s state parks and outdoor adventures for an entire year! Michigan residents are not able to purchase a one-day park pass. For State Park entry, all Michigan residents must have a Recreation Passport. For details about the Recreation Passport, click here.
