The Probility Beat the Heat 5K

Get ready for the Probility Beat the Heat 5K! Slated for Saturday, August 13 as part of the annual Saline Summerfest, the Probility Beat the Heat 5K invites athletes of all abilities to participate in a memorable run in the sun.

Built for Speed, Ideal for All

With a reputation as one of the fastest 5Ks in the Midwest — the top nine 2015 finishers boasted sub-15:00 times — the Probility Beat the Heat 5K is perfect for the elite competitor looking to set a new personal record. The mostly flat, 3.1-mile course rolls swiftly through downtown Saline, where family, friends, and festival goers wait to cheer on the participants as they cross the finish line.

As an enticement to attract the fastest runners in Michigan, the Probility Beat the Heat 5K offers cash prizes to the top five overall male finishers and the top five overall female finishers (note: to qualify for the overall cash prizes, runners must be Michigan residents). The top five finishers in each male and female age group will also receive special awards.

Not quite up to speed? Not to worry: the Probility Beat the Heat 5K is perfect for walkers, too! Stroll with your friends and family. Stroll with your stroller! Enjoy the opportunity to exercise outside and delight in the summer day. To encourage families to participate together, all youth participants ages 14 and under receive a special registration rate of $15! All 5K finishers will receive a stunning medal upon completion of the race as a keepsake of their Probility Beat the Heat feat.

NewGovCouncilThe Probility Beat the Heat 5K and Kids’ Dash has been endorsed by the Michigan Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health, and Sports. Both the 5K and the Kids’ Dash are part of the Pure Michigan FITness Series. The Probility Beat the Heat 5K is walker friendly!

Dashing through Downtown

Adults aren’t the only ones who get to beat the heat! Our revamped Kids’ Dash invites even the littlest feet to compete in this annual event. Open to children 8 and younger, our 100-meter course offers kids the opportunity to race just like Mom or Dad! All children participating in the Kids’ Dash will receive a commemorative medal upon crossing the finish line.

Teaming with Excitement

New to the Probility Beat the Heat 5K this year: our team competition! Gather your friends, grab your relatives, compel your co-workers into running the Probility Beat the Heat 5K as a team in either our Corporate or Open Division. Your team can have as many members as you’d like (five members minimum), but your team must be mixed (men and women). Your team’s five fastest 5K finish times must include the finish time for at least one female finisher. These times will be tallied together for your team’s official time. The fastest Corporate team and the fastest Open team each win a special award!

Do you run cross country for Saline? Are you a Hornet from years past? Compete with your teammates in our Saline XC – Current Members Division or Saline XC – Alumni/Alumnae Division! As with our Open and Corporate divisions, your team can have as many members as you’d like (five members minimum), but your team must be mixed (men and women). Create a team from your squad! Create a team for your graduation year! In addition, the first male finisher and first female finisher in each Saline XC division will win a special award and have their names engraved on a plaque that will hang in the Probility Physical Therapy – Saline office!

Share the Sunshine

What’s better than beating the heat? Sharing the sunshine with a buddy! Epic Races recognizes the compassion, support, and friendship that exists between a runner and their I Run 4 buddy. To help your buddy feel more special, we’ve created a race add-on so that your buddy can receive his or her own Probility Beat the Heat 5K medal. We applaud those runners who dedicate their miles to buddies with special needs whose conditions span the spectrum from total physical disability to developmental delays to autism spectrum disorders and more. Look for the IR4 add-on when you register, or log into Run Sign Up to manage your registration and add the IR4 add-on. For more information on the I Run 4 program or to be matched with a buddy of your own, visit the I Run 4 web site.
