The Probility Ann Arbor Marathon

We invite you to run the city with us on Sunday, March 24 for the 2019 Probility Ann Arbor Marathon, Half, 10K, 5K, brought to you by Epic Races. With four distances to choose from, we offer something for everyone, whether you’re walking your first 5K or running your 50th marathon.

All events start on Hill St.,  in view of one of Ann Arbor’s most memorable landmarks, The Big House. Participants run through downtown Ann Arbor, then wind their way through the city’s streets and parks as well as the University of Michigan campus. The marathon and half marathon courses also encompass stretches along the Huron River and Gallup Park and through Nichols Arboretum before returning to campus and downtown. All races end with a spectacular finish on Hill St.

The 5K, 10K, and half marathon events in the Probility Ann Arbor Marathon are walker friendly!

Meet your pace goals!!

Promoting fitness, friendship and fun for all ages for 50 years, the Ann Arbor Track Club also provides pacers for this event! Choose your goal and hit the mark! The following paces will be supported:

Marathon 5K – pacers for :21, :24, :27, :30, :33, and :36 total finish time

Marathon 10K – pacers for :42, :48, :54, 1:00, 1:06, and 1:12 total finish time 

Half Marathon – pacer for 1:30 total finish time

Full Marathon – pacers for 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, and 5:00 total finish time.

Street Closures

Wondering about street closures in Ann Arbor? Check here for details; we will update this as needed as we draw closer to our race date. Please be aware that the official cut-off time for the full marathon is 6 hours and that the last stretch of the marathon course will open again at 1:30 PM. Any participants still on the course will need to move to the sidewalks at that time.

 

Run Virtually Anywhere!

Can’t make it to Ann Arbor on race day? Participate in the Probility Ann Arbor Marathon by registering for our Virtual Half Marathon! Virtual participants run or walk 13.1 miles at a location of their choosing: at a park, on a trail, on a treadmill, even in a different part of Ann Arbor! You’ll the same race shirt and medal as those who join us in downtown Ann Arbor for the actual event! All Virtual Half Marathon participants must be registered by March 19th; your virtual race must be completed between March 1 and March 31st. Post your stats, photos, and story on the 2019  Probility Ann Arbor Marathon Virtual Half Facebook event page; if you post on Twitter or Instagram, be sure to tag @epicraces. Note: You are not required to report your results to us! Posting on social media is purely optional.

The Excitement Starts Saturday!

Your race weekend kicks off with our Health & Wellness Expo on Saturday, March 23 from 12 PM to 4 PM at 2/42 Community Center located at 648 Wagner Rd. in Ann Arbor. This free event is open to both participants and the public! Visit vendors such as Probility Physical Therapy, American Home Fitness, Run the City Marathon Retail and many more! Learn about our featured charities, fundraising through the Ann Arbor Marathon and ready to connect with you at the Expo. Pick up your race packet … or register if you haven’t already done so.

Wondering how fast, how slow, or how steady you should run your race? Stop by our pace team’s official table at the Expo and get to know the pacers! They’ll be glad to answer your questions regarding your running pace and will match you with the pacing group that will best help you accomplish your goal.

Race day parking will be available on side streets as well as at the following U of M lots: SC4, SC5, SC6, and SC7  of South (Ross) Athletic Campus. Click HERE for a map that identifies these lots.  Be sure to lock your car and do not leave any valuables behind. Neither the Probility Ann Arbor Marathon nor the University of Michigan will be held responsible for loss or damages incurred while parked during the event.

Awards

All full marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K finishers receive a commemorative medal. The top five finishers in each age division receive a special award. In addition:

Marathon: 1st Overall Male and Female and 1st Masters Male and Female each receive a special award plus a pair of running shoes from Tortoise and Hare.

Half Marathon: 1st Overall Male and Female and 1st Masters Male and Female each receive a special award plus a pair of running shoes from Tortoise and Hare.

10K: 1st Overall Male and Female and 1st Masters Male and Female each receive a special award plus a pair of running shoes from Tortoise and Hare.

FAQs:

Q. How do I confirm my registration?
A. Go to https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/AnnArbor/TheAnnArborMarathon and click the blue Find a Participant button, then look yourself up.

Q. How do I transfer from one distance to another?
A. To change events, log into your Run Sign Up account, click Manage My Registration, then click Manage Registration by The Probility Ann Arbor Marathon. Click the blue Transfer Events button, then follow the onscreen instructions. You can also change distances at our Packet Pick-Ups on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20.

Q. How do I transfer my registration to another person?
A. To transfer your registration to another person, log into your Run Sign Up account, click Manage My Registration, then click Manage Registration by The Ann Arbor Marathon. Click the blue Transfer to Another Runner button, then follow the onscreen instructions. The deadline to transfer your registration is Sunday, May 6, 2018. There are NO registration transfers after this date! Please note that there is a $15 transfer fee plus a processing fee for this service.

Q. I missed the deadline to transfer my registration. What can I do?
A. You can switch to another distance at Packet Pick-Up on Saturday, May 19 (at the Health and Wellness Expo) and on Sunday, May 20. There is no charge to switch to a different distance. There will be NO transfers of registration to another person past the stated deadline.

Q. I can no longer participate. How do I get a refund?
A. By registering for an Epic Races event, you have purchased a ticket to participate in one of the most exhilarating and enjoyable races in Southeast Michigan. As with a ticket to any sports or entertainment event, there are no refunds if you are unable to attend.

Q. I can no longer attend. Can I get my race shirt and medal sent to me?
A. We are happy to send you your race shirt and bib; please send us a self-addressed, large shipping envelope with $5 affixed postage and include our downloadable Mailing Race Items form (located under Mailing Race Items on our Policies page at http://www.epicraces.com/policies). Our address is Epic Races, 600 S. Wagner Road, Ann Arbor, MI, 48103. However, our finisher's medals are reserved for those who actually complete our race.

Q. I ordered the wrong size shirt. Can I change this?
A. Yes! Log into your Run Sign Up account, then click Manage My Registration, then click Manage Registration by The Ann Arbor Marathon. Click the blue Giveaways button, then follow the onscreen instructions. The deadline to reserve shirt sizes is April 15, 2018. Shirt sizes will be available on a first come, first served basis after that date.

Q. Where do I park on race morning?
A. Race day parking will be available on side streets as well as at the following U of M lots: SC4, SC5, SC6, and SC7 of South (Ross) Athletic Campus. Neither the Probility Ann Arbor Marathon nor the University of Michigan will be held responsible for loss or damages incurred while parked during the event.

Q. What happens if it's raining on race morning?
A. The Probility Ann Arbor Marathon will be held rain, snow, or shine. Please be sure to dress accordingly for the weather.

Q. How many aid stations will there be?
A. The Probility Ann Arbor Marathon features 11 aid stations on the course! There is one aid station on the 5K loop; 10K participants will pass this aid station twice. All aid stations will feature water and Gatorade. Gu energy gel will be offered at the aid stations along the Half and Full Marathon courses.

Q. Where will the port-o-potties be located?
A. There will be port-o-potties set up at both the start and finish areas, as well as at each aid station.

Q. Where can I view the course maps for the race?
A. Simply click on the blue Course Maps button at the top of the page. This will jump you down to our map section, where you can click on the link for the specific map you'd like to view. Please note: our courses are subject to change up until race day. Epic Races strives to be green. There will therefore be no printed course maps available on race day.

Q. What is the cut-off time for the race?
A. The marathon course opens to vehicular traffic at 1:30 PM (6:00 hours from gun time). Those who have not yet reached the finish line will need to move to the sidewalks at this time. The timing clock official stops timing at 6:00 hours from gun time.

Q. What if I can't continue the race?
A. If you cannot finish your race, please make your way to the closest aid station, where a communications volunteer will radio for a pick-up for you. If you are injured, please state this immediately so that first responders can be summoned.

Q. Are dogs allowed?
A. No, dogs are not allowed on any of the event courses or in the post-race food area due to safety, security, and insurance reasons.

Q. Are headphones/ear buds allowed?
A. Yes, but we strongly encourage that you consider participating without portable music. This way, you will be able to hear your pace team and course marshals, as well as the spectators cheering for you. You will also be able to hear your fellow runners calling out that they are passing you as well as first responders and race officials alerting you to their approach.

Q. When will results be posted and where?
A. You'll find the results by clicking on the blue Results button at the top of this page. Results will be posted within 12 hours after the race ends.

Q. Can someone else pick up my race packet for me?
A. Yes! Packet pick-up will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 12 PM to 4 PM at our Expo and on race morning at the starting area.

Q. Just picked up my packet, and my race shirt doesn't fit. Can I exchange it?
A. You will need to check with us after the race to see what shirt sizes, if any, we have left over.

Q. I wasn't able to stay for the awards ceremony. Where can I get my award?
A. Congratulations! Age-group awards will be available for pick-up at a location to be determined following the race. To have your age-group award mailed, please follow the instructions listed under Mailing Race Items on our policies page at http://www.epicraces.com/policies.

Q. How do I donate to the featured charities?
A. To donate to our Featured Charities, the non-profit groups fundraising at the marathon, please click the blue Fundraising button at the top of this page.
