What is a Mind • Body • Tri?

We are thrilled to bring you this new spin on triathlon.  Mind • Body • Tri will strengthen your social, mental, physical, and emotional resilience.  The three legs of the triathlon are: Yoga • Run (or walk) • Meditate.  The event supports  Food Gatherers.

We have done this before, but this is an all new virtual version.  This virtual event is as live and as in-person as can be at this time.

Please join Epic Races and Lisa Hesse as we gather for the wellness of our mind, body, and spirit. This event is non-competitive, but there are some neat prizes and sweet swag!

Here’s how it works:

Leg 1: Gather at our virtual meeting space at the designated start time for 45 minutes of yoga led by Lisa Hesse.  

Leg 2: You will then have one hour for your run or walk.  The event is designed for a 5K, but it is about personal goals so please do what is available to you.

Leg 3: Reconnect with the group for your final leg: guided meditation to bring you back to a place of grounded calm and joyful connection.

One other thing that makes this triathlon a little bit different is that it is not just offered on one date, but 4!  Register for the date that works best for you and you also will have the option to add on additional dates (please note, you only get swag for your first registration) during the registration process.

$5 from each entry will go directly to Food Gatherers.

In partnership with Food Gatherers, Michigan Medicine is hosting a dual donation drive for non-perishable food and PPE to help feed community members in need and protect frontline workers and staff. During the COVID-19 pandemic, please consider donating at the Michigan Medicine drop-off site. Food Gatherers is asking community members to only donate any extra items that they have on hand. This donation site is staffed by volunteers wearing protective gear that will unload your donations for you, no need to leave your car!

Please donate items that are non-perishable, unopened, unexpired, and not packaged in glass.

Donations are accepted at UM’s North Campus Research Complex, 2800 Plymouth Rd, Dock 90 in Ann Arbor. Mon-Sat, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. For more information, visit

Event day details will be sent to you after registration.



Join the yoga session on the date and time of your registration. We recommend getting on 15 minutes early. (The code will be emailed to you.) This is your 1st leg of the tri. When the session breaks, head out for your 2nd leg, your run/walk.  Then reunite with the group for your 3rd leg: guided meditation.


A virtual run is all about you, you do it for yourself so there is no need to “prove” your event… BUT… we love hearing about your experience and it’s great to share new routes and parks with others so we do hope you will upload your results with the instructions you will receive via email and also post about it on our Facebook page.
