Run or Walk 3.14 Miles

Mark your calendars: Saturday, March 14 will be cause for “constant” celebration. It’s Pi Day, the date on which the mathematical symbol π can be showcased oh so many ways. Such an epic date deserves recognition beyond the realm of math… and that’s where we come in!

Epic Races, Michigan’s premier endurance and multi-sport race event company, proudly presents Run 3.14 Pi, Michigan’s Original Pi Run, and the race that celebrates this circle-related number … and the circular edible it brings to mind. Starting at 9:26:53 AM on 3/14/20, participants will run or walk a 3.14-mile loop (as fans of π, we like to think of the course as a circle) at picturesque Hudson Mills MetroPark. And, since this is all about Pi, we’ll kick off the event with a special Pi(e) Wave: a pie-eating division in which competitors start their run or walk once their pie plate is empty. Don’t want to hit the trail on a full stomach? You can still commemorate Pi Day with our optional Pie in the Face at the finish line!

Swag >> The Swag

All our Run 3.14 Pi participants will receive:

  • race chip timing with super speedy results
  • a fabulous 3.14″ circular finisher’s medal
  • a high-quality, super-soft race T-shirt (to guarantee your size, please be sure to register before February 24)
  • free downloads of their race photos, compliments of Epic Races
  • a post-race feast featuring pie and more pie, featuring fruit, berry, cream, and even vegan pies!
>> Parking

The Run 3.14 Pi has TWO race divisions:
• The Run 3.14 Pi, in which participants will run (or walk) 3.14 miles
• The Run 3.14 Pie, the pie-eating division in participants will eat a 6-inch pie in the traditional pie-eating-contest style (no hands) before beginning their 3.14 mile run.

Each division will have overall and age group awards (scroll down for age groups), and all finishers will receive a sweet 3.14-diameter medal!

(We also have “a piece of pie” which is one mile fun run/walk- no timing or awards, but all the fun and all the goodies.)

Specific schedules will be in the athlete guide, so stay tuned for updates.

>> Virtual

Can’t make it to the race? Have your own private π celebration? No problem! Run 3.14 Pi has a virtual option, so you can run or walk for π anywhere: on a treadmill, around your neighborhood, even in Pi-ttsburgh or Mississip-Pi! You’ll still receive our fabulous finisher’s medal and super-soft T; you’ll just be with us in s-Pi-rit! Here’s what you need to do:

  • Complete your 3.14 miles
  • Take a screenshot of your sports-tracking smartphone app showing the distance or of your GPS watch with the completed mileage
  • Post the photo on our Facebook event page and be sure to tell us about your ex-Pi-rience! If you’re Tweeting about Run 3.14 Pi, be sure to tag @epicraces in your Tweet!
