Skier Profile: Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the Snowman has skied eight of the nine years of the race.  We were fortunate enough to sit down with Frosty earlier this week and capture some of Frosty’s thoughts about the race:

“I’ve really enjoyed the race every year. I only missed once, in 2010. My car got stuck in a snowbank on the way to the race, and I couldn’t make it in time. (Yes, the irony of a snowman missing the race because of a snow-related issue is not lost on me.) But I made up for it the next year when I won the Snowman division!

Here are my race results to prove it:

2011 Overall:  5k Classic Classic Winner ‐ International Star Division: 1 Frosty Snowman.

Pace:  12:34/M

Time 0:38:56 35 1 13.

I really enjoy skiing with the kids in their race, and they seem to like having me there! I’m looking forward to doing the race once again, but being a skiing snowman has its difficulties, so I think I’ll just go out and have a nice ski this year. Lots of people think that as a snowman I have some kind of unfair advantage, but actually it’s the other way around… ever try to double pole with my body shape? It’s not so easy!

I try not to get too hung up on things like wax and split times. The measure of a good race for me is whether I had a good time, and so far, I’m batting a thousand at this race! I ski hard, have fun, and let the chips fall where they may.

I’m sure some of you who are new to this race will think these pictures were photoshopped, but when you see me on the course this year, you’ll know that they’re authentic. I’m the real deal!

I plan to keep skiing as long as there’s a Frosty Freestyle race to ski at, and because my goal is to have fun, I know I’ll succeed! I can’t wait to see you all on the course soon!”
